該雜志的范圍包括光學(xué)網(wǎng)絡(luò)科學(xué)、技術(shù)和工程的最新進(jìn)展。鼓勵(lì)理論貢獻(xiàn)（包括新技術(shù)、概念、分析和經(jīng)濟(jì)研究）和實(shí)際貢獻(xiàn)（包括光網(wǎng)絡(luò)實(shí)驗(yàn)、原型和新應(yīng)用）。感興趣的子領(lǐng)域包括光網(wǎng)絡(luò)的架構(gòu)和設(shè)計(jì)、光網(wǎng)絡(luò)的生存性和安全性、軟件定義的光網(wǎng)絡(luò)、彈性光網(wǎng)絡(luò)、數(shù)據(jù)和控制平面的進(jìn)步、與網(wǎng)絡(luò)管理相關(guān)的創(chuàng)新以及光接入網(wǎng)絡(luò)。只有當(dāng)結(jié)果表明，使能技術(shù)及其應(yīng)用能夠直接影響簡(jiǎn)單點(diǎn)對(duì)點(diǎn)網(wǎng)絡(luò)之外的光網(wǎng)絡(luò)時(shí)，才是合適的主題。

The scope of the Journal includes advances in the state-of-the-art of optical networking science, technology, and engineering. Both theoretical contributions (including new techniques, concepts, analyses, and economic studies) and practical contributions (including optical networking experiments, prototypes, and new applications) are encouraged. Subareas of interest include the architecture and design of optical networks, optical network survivability and security, software-defined optical networking, elastic optical networks, data and control plane advances, network management related innovation, and optical access networks. Enabling technologies and their applications are suitable topics only if the results are shown to directly impact optical networking beyond simple point-to-point networks.
