本刊在范圍上具有真正的國際性，來自全球各地的作者和社論貢獻(xiàn)。重點(diǎn)是熱帶和傳染病的臨床和流行病學(xué)方面，新的和重新出現(xiàn)的感染，慢性非傳染性疾病和拉丁美洲 - 加勒比地區(qū)普遍存在的醫(yī)療條件，以及對全球健康，特別是在發(fā)展中國家。該雜志涵蓋所有醫(yī)學(xué)學(xué)科，以及闡明疾病的病理生理基礎(chǔ)或側(cè)重于新的治療方法的基礎(chǔ)和轉(zhuǎn)化研究，并出版原始科學(xué)研究，評(píng)論，病例報(bào)告，簡要通信，信件，評(píng)論和醫(yī)學(xué)圖像。

The Journal has been truly international in scope, with author and editorial contributions from across the globe. The focus has been on clinical and epidemiological aspects of tropical and infectious diseases, new and re-emerging infections, chronic non-communicable diseases, and medical conditions prevalent in the Latin America-Caribbean region, and of significance to global health, especially in developing countries. The Journal covers all medical disciplines, as well as basic and translational research elucidating the pathophysiologic basis of diseases or focusing on new therapeutic approaches, and publishes original scientific research, reviews, case reports, brief communications, letters, commentaries and medical images. The Journal publishes twelve issues and six supplements annually. English is the language of publication but Abstracts are also duplicated in Spanish.
