《基因與發展》雜志在分子生物學、分子遺傳學及相關領域發表高質量的具有廣泛興趣和生物學意義的研究論文。除了評論文章和觀點，《基因與發展》還出版了三種研究形式——研究論文、簡短的研究交流和資源/方法論論文。《基因與發育》雜志被評為分子生物學和遺傳學領域的五大研究期刊之一。基因與發育的影響因子為9.41，在發育生物學研究期刊中排名第一，在遺傳學和遺傳學中排名第四，在細胞生物學中排名第六(ISI期刊引文報告?，2017)。該雜志是與遺傳學協會聯合出版的。

In addition to Review Articles and Perspectives, Genes & Development publishes three research formats—Research papers, short Research Communications, and Resource/Methodology papers.Genes & Development has been named one of the Top Five Research Journals in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics.
