《應(yīng)用流體力學(xué)雜志》（JAFM）是一本國(guó)際性的同行評(píng)議期刊，涵蓋了流體力學(xué)的各種理論、數(shù)值和實(shí)驗(yàn)方面。重點(diǎn)是不同工程領(lǐng)域的應(yīng)用，而不是流體力學(xué)中純數(shù)學(xué)或物理方面的應(yīng)用。盡管目前存在許多與流體力學(xué)不同方面有關(guān)的高質(zhì)量期刊，但該領(lǐng)域的研究正在迅速升級(jí)。這本新的流體力學(xué)期刊的動(dòng)機(jī)是由以下幾點(diǎn)驅(qū)動(dòng)的：（1）有必要讓所有流體力學(xué)研究人員都能閱讀電子期刊；（2）來(lái)自第三世界國(guó)家的科學(xué)家需要一個(gè)不產(chǎn)生出版成本的地方；（3）高質(zhì)量的論文應(yīng)該通過(guò)高效的同行快速出版。審查過(guò)程，以及（4）快速傳播在亞洲國(guó)家舉行的流體力學(xué)會(huì)議需要一個(gè)出口。關(guān)于后一點(diǎn)，目前在該地區(qū)有一些專門促進(jìn)流體力學(xué)的優(yōu)秀會(huì)議，如亞洲流體力學(xué)大會(huì)，始于1980年，名義上每?jī)赡暝谝粋�(gè)亞洲國(guó)家舉行一次。我們希望這本擬議的雜志為促進(jìn)該大陸的應(yīng)用流體研究和相關(guān)活動(dòng)提供了額外的動(dòng)力。該雜志由伊朗物理學(xué)會(huì)與伊斯法罕理工大學(xué)（IUT）合作出版。

The Journal of Applied Fluid Mechanics (JAFM) is an international, peer-reviewed journal which covers a wide range of theoretical, numerical and experimental aspects in fluid mechanics. The emphasis is on the applications in different engineering fields rather than on pure mathematical or physical aspects in fluid mechanics. Although many high quality journals pertaining to different aspects of fluid mechanics presently exist, research in the field is rapidly escalating. The motivation for this new fluid mechanics journal is driven by the following points: (1) there is a need to have an e-journal accessible to all fluid mechanics researchers, (2) scientists from third- world countries need a venue that does not incur publication costs, (3) quality papers deserve rapid and fast publication through an efficient peer review process, and (4) an outlet is needed for rapid dissemination of fluid mechanics conferences held in Asian countries. Pertaining to this latter point, there presently exist some excellent conferences devoted to the promotion of fluid mechanics in the region such as the Asian Congress of Fluid Mechanics which began in 1980 and nominally takes place in one of the Asian countries every two years. We hope that the proposed journal provides and additional impetus for promoting applied fluids research and associated activities in this continent. The journal is under the umbrella of the Physics Society of Iran with the collaboration of Isfahan University of Technology (IUT) .
